Cruisin' to Alaska & Visiting Vancouver- Day 3

We woke up this morning at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver. Our day started off with a pre-cruise presentation from Steve Spangler and John Scheerens. (The King of Alaska).

The key points of the day were that everyone is a teacher,  to make every day the best day ever, and that creating experiences and connection are the most important thing we can do for each other. 

We went through security and boarded the ship early. Being our first time on a cruise, we were excited to board and check everything out. 
We were pretty excited with the size of our suite. This will be home base for the next seven days. 
We popped onto the Lido Deck and had some lunch and later went back for dessert. We are missing the Chassell Strawberry Festival this weekend so I decided on a cake with strawberries and strawberry ice cream for dessert. It wasn't the same, but it will do!

We all got a little overstimulated at the departure party, so we made our way to our room and private balcony to take in the sun, wind, and sites as we departed Vancouver. 


I went in to take a little rest before dinner and Allan and Dane saw a whale from our deck! No photo as it happened so fast and unexpectedly

Dinner was great, we met a nice family from the Chicago area who we will be dining with all week when we choose to eat in the dining room. 

We spent the evening relaxing on our deck and watching the water and islands/land.

! Today's adventure was the Vandusen Botanical Garden.  Dane got us through the maze. We saw a lot of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. In addition to ducks, fish, and a coyote.  After the gardens we checked out a few anime shops and then headed to our hotel to relax before our travel home tomorrow.

Cruisin' to Alaska & Visiting Vancouver- Day 2

(not our cruise ship)  Hello Vancouver!  (Our view from our hotel last night) We slept in this morning. After yesterday's long day of travel and the time change for us, today was a much needed day to take it easy. We booked this "extra day" as a buffer to make sure we made it here in time if there were any travel snaffoos. Luckily, we mad eit here on time with no issues!  Then we made our way into the city to the Pan Pacific Hotel.  Our view here is a little bit different ;). Our conference will kick off here tomorrow before we board the ship. We are on the 20th floor and the view is gorgeous!  We spent the afternoon wandering around in Vancouver. We found an art museum, and a comic book/ anime store!  Our hotel is amazing and right on the water....  We took a late afternoon rest at the hotel and went venturing out on the pier before dinner.  (the rooftop pool area on level 8 of our hotel. Day 1

Well... .we made it to Minnesota. Today was mostly a day of driving. We drove south through Wisconsin and west to Bloomington. Dane had fun signaling the truckers to honk, and we managed to get 8 trucks to respond. A good portion of the trip I sat in the back with Dane, so with our tinted windows, it was difficult for them to see our signals. We were happy to pass through Wisconsin, as Dane quickly realized that it continually smells of something as we passed all of the farms.... Allan was quite intrigued by the landscape, rolling hills and lots of silos....... (you can connect the dots...) We arrived into Minnesota a bit later than planned, but that was okay. We checked into our hotel and then we were off to the Mall of America.... We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, and we sat in the primate section... The random calls of the gorillas and the chimps filled the air... One was swinging above us.... Dane was quite certain he/she was trying to poop in our food. We were on constant guar
