Day 12: Happy 4th of July!!!!






Uncle Joe started our morning off with homemade huckleberry pancakes, eggs, and bacon. We spent almost the entire day visiting. We shared lots of our trip photos, and he shared oodles of photos of his adventures and wood working with us. At 11 am, we drove to Prarie City, a near by town to the parade, and enjoyed the cannon starting the parade, and the parasailors in the sky....


After the parade, we drove out to Michael and his family's house.. AMAZING place. Uncle Joe had described it as a castle, and he wasn't kidding... We were given a full tour, and had fun meeting cousins. We visited for quite a few hours, and Dane had so much fun playing with the boys... he didn't want to leave.


After visiting, we drove back to John Day and took a quick dip in the pool prior to meeting back up with Uncle Joe for supper. Dane had a ton of fun playing with "Black Jack", Uncle Joe's black lab. We visited until it was time to head out for the fireworks in Prarie City. Uncle Joe came out with us and we saw the display from the hillside outside of the town. It was a great display for a small town.


Tomorrow, we plan to stop by for a late breakfast before heading out of town and moving on to Portland!

! Today's adventure was the Vandusen Botanical Garden.  Dane got us through the maze. We saw a lot of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. In addition to ducks, fish, and a coyote.  After the gardens we checked out a few anime shops and then headed to our hotel to relax before our travel home tomorrow.

Cruisin' to Alaska & Visiting Vancouver- Day 2

(not our cruise ship)  Hello Vancouver!  (Our view from our hotel last night) We slept in this morning. After yesterday's long day of travel and the time change for us, today was a much needed day to take it easy. We booked this "extra day" as a buffer to make sure we made it here in time if there were any travel snaffoos. Luckily, we mad eit here on time with no issues!  Then we made our way into the city to the Pan Pacific Hotel.  Our view here is a little bit different ;). Our conference will kick off here tomorrow before we board the ship. We are on the 20th floor and the view is gorgeous!  We spent the afternoon wandering around in Vancouver. Day 1

Well... .we made it to Minnesota. Today was mostly a day of driving. We drove south through Wisconsin and west to Bloomington. Dane had fun signaling the truckers to honk, and we managed to get 8 trucks to respond. A good portion of the trip I sat in the back with Dane, so with our tinted windows, it was difficult for them to see our signals. We were happy to pass through Wisconsin, as Dane quickly realized that it continually smells of something as we passed all of the farms.... Allan was quite intrigued by the landscape, rolling hills and lots of silos....... (you can connect the dots...) We arrived into Minnesota a bit later than planned, but that was okay. We checked into our hotel and then we were off to the Mall of America.... We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, and we sat in the primate section... The random calls of the gorillas and the chimps filled the air... One was swinging above us.... Dane was quite certain he/she was trying to poop in our food. We were on constant guar...
