Family Roadtrip! The One Where They Celebrate 25 Years! Day 6

Another fabulous day on the books. We started our morning out in Statesville and we went back to the Emerald Hollow Mine for day 2! Today we tried our luck at digging.
 However, the heat and humidity for that kind of work was a little much for us. So, after a couple of buckets we switched to sluicing. 
We found a lot of really cool specimens in our buckets and loaded up the SUV with some buckets to go. Our sluicing was cut short due to a thunder storm, where we packed everything up and headed east!

Tonight's destination is Folly Beach, South Carolina. We are right on the ocean for the next couple of days. 
After settling in, we found an outdoor restaurant and enjoyed some music. 
Allan and I took a walk on the beach right outside the hotel. We could see a storm in the distance. Hopefully we will have good weather tomorrow for our adventures ;).

! Today's adventure was the Vandusen Botanical Garden.  Dane got us through the maze. We saw a lot of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. In addition to ducks, fish, and a coyote.  After the gardens we checked out a few anime shops and then headed to our hotel to relax before our travel home tomorrow.

Cruisin' to Alaska & Visiting Vancouver- Day 2

(not our cruise ship)  Hello Vancouver!  (Our view from our hotel last night) We slept in this morning. After yesterday's long day of travel and the time change for us, today was a much needed day to take it easy. We booked this "extra day" as a buffer to make sure we made it here in time if there were any travel snaffoos. Luckily, we mad eit here on time with no issues!  Then we made our way into the city to the Pan Pacific Hotel.  Our view here is a little bit different ;). Our conference will kick off here tomorrow before we board the ship. We are on the 20th floor and the view is gorgeous!  We spent the afternoon wandering around in Vancouver. Day 1

Well... .we made it to Minnesota. Today was mostly a day of driving. We drove south through Wisconsin and west to Bloomington. Dane had fun signaling the truckers to honk, and we managed to get 8 trucks to respond. A good portion of the trip I sat in the back with Dane, so with our tinted windows, it was difficult for them to see our signals. We were happy to pass through Wisconsin, as Dane quickly realized that it continually smells of something as we passed all of the farms.... Allan was quite intrigued by the landscape, rolling hills and lots of silos....... (you can connect the dots...) We arrived into Minnesota a bit later than planned, but that was okay. We checked into our hotel and then we were off to the Mall of America.... We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, and we sat in the primate section... The random calls of the gorillas and the chimps filled the air... One was swinging above us.... Dane was quite certain he/she was trying to poop in our food. We were on constant guar...
