Roadtrip! The One Where They Hunt Dinosaurs!!! Day 2


We started our day in Mankato, Minnesota and hit the road running. Our first stop was Sioux Falls, South Dakota. (That makes 4 states thus far: Michigan-Wisconsin-Minnesota-South Dakota).

We spent some time exploring Falls Park and then we went to the Great Plains Zoo. 

We spent a lot more time at the zoo than we thought we would, which made our later stop to Wall Drug a very short one, but the zoo time was worth it! 

After Sioux Falls, we started out trek across South Dakota with a quick stop in Mitchell. We couldn't pass up an opportunity to visit the Corn Palace again ;). 
After Mitchell, we had to kick it in gear to make it to Wall Drug before they closed. 

It was a short visit, but at least everyone can say they've been to Wall Drug now ;). 

We saw our first dinosaur on the road!!
Now, we are hunkered down in Rapid City for the night. Another full day of adventures planned for tomorrow!!!

! Today's adventure was the Vandusen Botanical Garden.  Dane got us through the maze. We saw a lot of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. In addition to ducks, fish, and a coyote.  After the gardens we checked out a few anime shops and then headed to our hotel to relax before our travel home tomorrow.

Cruisin' to Alaska & Visiting Vancouver- Day 2

(not our cruise ship)  Hello Vancouver!  (Our view from our hotel last night) We slept in this morning. After yesterday's long day of travel and the time change for us, today was a much needed day to take it easy. We booked this "extra day" as a buffer to make sure we made it here in time if there were any travel snaffoos. Luckily, we mad eit here on time with no issues!  Then we made our way into the city to the Pan Pacific Hotel.  Our view here is a little bit different ;). Our conference will kick off here tomorrow before we board the ship. We are on the 20th floor and the view is gorgeous!  We spent the afternoon wandering around in Vancouver. Day 1

Well... .we made it to Minnesota. Today was mostly a day of driving. We drove south through Wisconsin and west to Bloomington. Dane had fun signaling the truckers to honk, and we managed to get 8 trucks to respond. A good portion of the trip I sat in the back with Dane, so with our tinted windows, it was difficult for them to see our signals. We were happy to pass through Wisconsin, as Dane quickly realized that it continually smells of something as we passed all of the farms.... Allan was quite intrigued by the landscape, rolling hills and lots of silos....... (you can connect the dots...) We arrived into Minnesota a bit later than planned, but that was okay. We checked into our hotel and then we were off to the Mall of America.... We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, and we sat in the primate section... The random calls of the gorillas and the chimps filled the air... One was swinging above us.... Dane was quite certain he/she was trying to poop in our food. We were on constant guar...
