Road Trip! The One Where They Hunt Dinosaurs!!! Day 3

 We spent today in the Black Hills. Our first stop this morning was Reptile Gardens.


Our family has been to the Black Hills a number of times, with our first trip being in 2008. We had a lot of fun showing our travel buddies some of our favorite places to explore today. 

 

Our second stop was the Black Hills Institute in Hill City. 
Dane sure has grown a lot since our last visit here! 



There are over 1000 fossils at the institute and they also loan a number of their specimens out to other places. (Some of the fossils we saw at Reptile Gardens were on loan from the Institute). 


There was a massive photo dump on Facebook today if you are looking for more of our pictures! 

We spent some time checking out the shops in Hill City and then made our way to Mt Rushmore. 






We managed not to get too drenched and ducked into the museum while it continued to rain! 
The rain stopped as we were departing. On our way back to the hotel, we stopped to see possibly the world's largest chainsaw carving of BigFoot in Keystone.


Then, we were off to Storybook Island. We visited there in 2008 and wanted to recreate some of our phootos from there! (Some things never change...)






With all of the fun and adventure we have already had, it is hard to believe that today was only day 3!!! We will be saying goodbye to South Dakota tomorrow and making our way through parts of Wyoming into Colorado! Stay tuned!

! Today's adventure was the Vandusen Botanical Garden.  Dane got us through the maze. We saw a lot of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. In addition to ducks, fish, and a coyote.  After the gardens we checked out a few anime shops and then headed to our hotel to relax before our travel home tomorrow.

Cruisin' to Alaska & Visiting Vancouver- Day 2

(not our cruise ship)  Hello Vancouver!  (Our view from our hotel last night) We slept in this morning. After yesterday's long day of travel and the time change for us, today was a much needed day to take it easy. We booked this "extra day" as a buffer to make sure we made it here in time if there were any travel snaffoos. Luckily, we mad eit here on time with no issues!  Then we made our way into the city to the Pan Pacific Hotel.  Our view here is a little bit different ;). Our conference will kick off here tomorrow before we board the ship. We are on the 20th floor and the view is gorgeous!  We spent the afternoon wandering around in Vancouver. Day 1

Well... .we made it to Minnesota. Today was mostly a day of driving. We drove south through Wisconsin and west to Bloomington. Dane had fun signaling the truckers to honk, and we managed to get 8 trucks to respond. A good portion of the trip I sat in the back with Dane, so with our tinted windows, it was difficult for them to see our signals. We were happy to pass through Wisconsin, as Dane quickly realized that it continually smells of something as we passed all of the farms.... Allan was quite intrigued by the landscape, rolling hills and lots of silos....... (you can connect the dots...) We arrived into Minnesota a bit later than planned, but that was okay. We checked into our hotel and then we were off to the Mall of America.... We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, and we sat in the primate section... The random calls of the gorillas and the chimps filled the air... One was swinging above us.... Dane was quite certain he/she was trying to poop in our food. We were on constant guar...
