Road Trip! The One Where They Hunt Dinosaurs!!! Day 7

Today we left Cody and headed to Yellowstone National Park.
We entered the park through the East Entrance and it wasn't long before we saw some wildlife.
There were a few buffalo grazing on the side of the road.
and a little bit further up the road we saw an elk grazing as well.

With only one day and with the road construction/closures we had to pick and choose which locations to visit. We opted to make our first stop at Old Faithful. We arrived shortly after the geyser had errupted, so we had some time to walk the boardwalks to see some of the other geysers. We saw the beehive geyser errupt. and then we waited for Old Faithful.

The boys were not as impressed with the geyser as they were with the dinosaurs. Even though we saw it in 2008, I still thought it was a pretty awesome site to see!

Our second area to explore was the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
You can see where the mist and the sunlight created rainbows above the river and falls.

The canyon views were breathtaking.

Our final area of exploration was the Mammoth Hot Springs.

It was nice to check out a few places we had not previously been, and to get in some of the fabulous scenery and wildlife on our way through! There were quite a few elk roaming near the park exit.

Even though it was a break from seeing dinosaurs today, there was no lack of dinosaur discussion. On our drive from the North entrance there was a lot of disccussion over "who would win" against a T-Rex with serious contemplation and hypotheses.

The views did not disappoint on our drive either.

Don't worry, there will be more dinosaurs again tomorrow!
