The Quest for Megalodon Day 4
We started our day at Natural Bridge State Park in Kentucky. We had a great breakfast at the lodge and then started our drive south. We didn't have a lot of plans for today, except for a stop at the Grey Fossil Site in Gray, Tennessee. If you decide to stop, make sure to schedule a paleo tour! Our guide Paige was fabulous, she is an archeologist, but had a wealth of knowledge about the site and research happening there.
This fossil site was found in 2000 when a road construction crew came across some pretty amazing fossils! They re-routed the road and built a museum/lab on the site instead. Although it was not a "dino" site, Dane was pretty excited about all of the tapir they had found there.
Our day continued with lots of winding roads through Tennessee, and into North Carolina where we found our cabin home for the night at the Springmaid Mountain Retreat.
The river view from the porch of our cabin.. and the horses below....
We didn't eat at a restaurant today, so there is no "who ate what?" edition today. We opted for dinner cooked at our cabin :). We generally only eat out once a day on our trips. We opt for the breakfast that is included with our lodging. We also pack a cooler and eat one of our meals from the cooler/vehicle food stash. It helps us spend more of our budget on the fun things we want to do!
Total Trip States (6): Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina
