The Quest for Megalodon Day 6
We spent almost 10 hours (with a few breaks) in the mud today. Some people go to Disney, some people go to the beach..... We tend to go on big adventures and dig in the dirt. Today was one of those epic dig in the dirt kind of days. We had some wonderful tour guides with Palmetto Fossil Excursions. We spent 6+/- hours digging at their Lightening Site for the first part of our day. We moved a lot of dirt.... The first big find of the day goes to Dane... He was pretty geeked to have this fossil checked off of his bucket list! His first Megalodon tooth! Then, I found a big chunk of baleen whale jaw with shark took markings on it! We found oodles of other teeth. It was hot in the sun, but the shade umbrellas helped a lot! It was much cooler than most of our dinosaur digs have been and we were sitting in an area of damp clay, which helped to keep us cooler.
